Online Recipes

First – we cook!

Visitors and new residents to the north end of Bayou Teche area will soon discover that everything that happens in our culture begins with a great meal. Cecilia Online has an ongoing individual recipe and new recipe news category, but the links on this page will lead you to the best recipe sites from across Acadiana and beyond. They will always be here – ready for you to enjoy at the click of a mouse button. And don’t forget – if you know of another great Louisiana recipe site, do let us know so we can get them in this list.

Recipe Source This is a marvelous website that has recipes from around the world. You can browse by region, by type, or by ethnicity within a region. Louisianians will be particularly interested in the section on Cajun recipes. All of our favorites are there!

John Folse & Company This site is a must have for anyone who loves Louisiana food. A few years ago, John Folse got the “heart smart” cooking bug, so look for healthier versions of all of our favorites, plus how to season cast iron on this site.

The Creole & Cajun Recipe Page This site is part of The Gumbo Pages, a wonderful New Orleans resource. The recipes are from all across South Lousiana and many are from some of the best restaurants and chefs in our state.

Justin Wilson’s “How Y’all Are?” The man may be gone, but the recipes live on. The site is flash based, so you have to click on Recipes, then click at the bottom of the next page for a list of recipes. But when you finally reach the list, it is just wonderful – tons of recipes that are part of the collective memory of all Louisianians.

Chef Paul Prudhomme Tons of recipes from one of Louisiana’s most beloved chefs. Paul Prudhomme has also gotten the “healthy lifestyle” bug and this site shows it. He has done a marvelous job of turning his own health problems around, so this site is well worth keeping.

Frank Davis Frank Davis can talk your ear off, but he can cook like a champ and gives the best directions for cooking his recipes that you will ever find in any cookbook. He made his mark in New Orleans, but his roots are in Opelousas – so look for lots of stuffings for vegetables and great seafood recipes from this site.

Miss Lucy’s Cajun Classroom Miss Lucy is a transplant from South Louisiana to the Monroe area and it shows in some of her vegetable and desert recipes. This website is certainly a keeper.

Louisiana Cooking Magazine Recipes and so much much more!!! If you love to cook, you can take a vacation right on this website! We hope you enjoy it.

3 Pages from LSU Ag Center: LSU Ag Center Eat Smart Recipes, LSU Ag Center Eat Smart Free Course Online, and LSU Ag Center Food & Health No matter what kind of Louisiana recipe you are looking for, always check the LSU Ag Center website. Chances are, they are going to have great information and plenty of recipes to go with it.

NOLA Cuisine You’ll find some good recipes for Fried Okra, Natchitoches Meat Pies, Red Beans & Rice, Beignets, and Courtboullion here. They also have a Pepper Jelly recipe, poboy recipes, and a recipe for Grits & Grillades. I like their seasoning recipe. I love the side dishes on this site too – real oyster dressing, shrimp & eggplant dressing, and Maque Choux. All of that and much more!

Recipe Link Wish you could make biscuits like Popeye’s? That link leads to two copycat recipes from Recipe Link.

Been looking for a beignet recipe? How about beignets from Commander’s Palace in New Orleans? Just go to the Recipe Link Search Page and type in the name of your favorite Louisiana restaurant to see if there are copycat recipes available.
